From the Jura to the lake, along the Geneva border
The route follows the A6 to Mâcon, then the A40 through the Bresse and the Jura, with viaduct after tunnel. On the outskirts of Geneva, at Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, we switch to the A41, which heads due south to Annecy.
Arriving along the northern end of the lake is a moment in itself: turquoise water, the peaks of the Bornes and the Tournette, then the old town crossed by the Thiou, with its canals and the Palais de l’Île that earned Annecy its nickname, the “Venice of the Alps”.
Annecy is also the gateway to the Aravis. La Clusaz and Le Grand-Bornand are half an hour away via Thônes, Megève less than an hour: many of our clients skip the town altogether and go straight up to the resort.
In summer, the lake is the draw: Talloires, Menthon-Saint-Bernard and Veyrier-du-Lac, with their beaches and hotels. With children, bikes or luggage for a fortnight, a direct trip saves you the train and the onward connection.

A handful of direct TGVs link Paris and Annecy in just under four hours. Door to door, the car is almost level. It pulls clearly ahead as soon as your destination is a ski resort (La Clusaz, Le Grand-Bornand, Megève), when you are travelling as a family with skis or bikes, or when the train times do not suit you.
