We leave Paris through the Saint-Cloud tunnel and onto the A13, the Normandy motorway. It follows the Seine, skirts Mantes, bypasses Rouen to the south, then the A132 slip road runs down towards Pont-l’Évêque and the coast.
It is not a long trip, but timing is everything. On Fridays between 3pm and 8pm, and on Sunday evenings in the other direction, the A13 fills up with Parisians heading off for the weekend. Leaving at 1pm or after 8pm makes for a completely different experience.
This is a trip people often make with plenty of luggage: golf bags, suitcases for a week, riding equipment, a dog. A van is then more comfortable than a saloon, and that is precisely what the train cannot offer.
On arrival, we drop you at the exact address: a hotel on the Planches, a house in Bénerville, the Deauville-La Touques racecourse or the Centre International for a conference. Honfleur, Trouville and Cabourg are just minutes away.
