Margaux

Paris → Aquitaine via the A10
The Loire, Poitou, Saintonge and then the vineyards. With a chauffeur, Bordeaux is just the beginning: Saint-Émilion, the Médoc châteaux or the Arcachon basin are where the TGV stops.
Bordeaux
about €293 per person with 4 passengers
We leave Paris through Porte d’Orléans onto the A10, known as L’Aquitaine. The motorway crosses the Beauce, bypasses Orléans and follows the Loire to Tours, then heads for Poitiers, Niort and Saintes before crossing the Garonne on the approach to Bordeaux.
Breaks fall naturally in Touraine, then near Futuroscope, a stop that families travelling with children love.
On arrival, the Bordeaux ring road (the rocade) can be busy at rush hour. We choose the way in according to your address: the historic centre, Chartrons, Mérignac or the right bank.
This route especially appeals to those who do not stop at Bordeaux: château visits in Saint-Émilion, Pomerol or the Médoc, holiday homes in Arcachon or Cap-Ferret. There, a car with driver has no competition.

From September to October, the vineyards are buzzing. A getaway to the Bordeaux region at its liveliest time of year.
Arcachon, Pyla, Cap-Ferret: in July and August, the direct trip avoids a packed TGV followed by a connection to the coast.
An honest comparison
Car with driver
5h 40min
From your front door to your destination address, with no changes and no luggage to carry.
Train, door to door
3h 35min
2h 05min on the train, plus around 1h 30min to get to the station, wait for departure and complete the journey at the other end.
The TGV links Paris-Montparnasse and Bordeaux in just over two hours: it is much faster for getting to central Bordeaux. A car with driver makes sense for the vineyards, the Arcachon basin or an address outside the city, for a group or a family with luggage, and for a trip with several stops.
Our estimate is around €1,170 for 585 km, or about €290 per person for four. The final price depends on the addresses and time of travel.
